The main aim of this special issue is the characterization of the pre-industrial climate in the Iberian Peninsula. It brings together contributions providing new evidence from documentary (including early instrumental series, proxies of extreme hydrological and temperature events), and natural sources (tree rings and sedimentary records). In addition, we welcome papers developing new high resolution simulations over the Iberian Peninsula and exploring proxy/proxy and proxy/model studies. This issue will improve the understanding and constrain the consequences of the Little Ice Age and the Dalton Minimum on the Iberian Peninsula.| A shift in the spatial pattern of Iberian droughts during the 17th century Clim.
